Primm Valley Golf Club (Lakes/Desert)

Nipton, CA

Full Leaderboard - Photo Gallery

With a record field size of 256 participants in 2013, the 4th Annual FCG Las Vegas Championship had a lot of exciting buzz surrounding it. FCG had announced Oakley as an official hat sponsor, PlayKleen as the official towel sponsor and the Long Drivers of America were hosting a Long Drive Challenge after play of the first round.

Conditions were perfect, although a little bit warm, over the two days and there were some very impressive scores shot in all divisions. Multiple players shot in the 60’s both days and the winner of the Boys 15-18 division finished at 8-under par! FCG looks forward to growing this event even larger next year and adding more events for both parents and players to enjoy.

Boys 15-18 Division:

The Boys 15-18 division lit up the Desert Course at Primm Valley Golf Club. The top five finishers, on average, made 5 birdies in each of their rounds, with the low score being an astounding 5-under par, 67. Andrew Rudy, who shot a 5-under par, 67 on Saturday had a one shot lead over Jack Ireland going into Sunday. Greg Gildea was not far behind after a first day 69. Gildea and Rudy ended up flip flopping scores on Sunday, which landed them both in a playoff for the 1st place position. Ireland who shot an impressive, 2-under par 70 on Sunday missed out on the playoff by 2 strokes. Rudy was able to win the playoff and take the division title and the exemption into The Callaway Junior World Championship

Girls 15-18 Division:

Coming off her win at the FCG Pacific Northwest Championship, Gigi Stoll continued her impressive year in junior golf. Starting off very strong Stoll and Mangrobang were tied for the lead after they both shot a 2-under par 69 on the Lakes Course of Primm Valley Golf Club. On Sunday, Stoll struggled a bit, shooting a 75. Luckily for Stoll, Mangrobang also struggled and finished Sunday with a 77 and allowed Stoll to take first place. Sneaking in for a second place finish was Alexandra Cooper after staying pretty consistent over the two days, shooting 74-72. Since Gigi Stoll was already exempt into the Callaway Junior World Championship, Cooper and Mangrobang had to have a playoff to determine who would receive the exemption. In the end,  Mangrobang was able to win the playoff and get the spot in Junior World.

Both players were able to make par on the first playoff hole (#1 Lakes Course) however, Tottori was able to stick it close on Hole #2 and convert the birdie putt to close out the playoff. The winner of the division, Ricky Castillo, ended the tournament at 7-under par and the fifth place finisher, Yuki Moriyama also finished the tournament under par, with a final score of 1-under.
