This week we saw two extremes of weather. Frost delays ruled the morning; while by the time rounds were being completed the temperatures were reaching 80 degrees and above. Lake San Marcos County Club (newly re-named St. Marks) has been going through some renovations, but the greens were fast and the pin placements were difficult, making for some good shot making opportunities.

Boys College Prep Division:
After being a tight contest after the first day, with 6 players within 3 shots of one another, the second day was ruled by Sang Woo You (Korea). He shot a very respectable 1-over 72 on the first day but exploded on the second day for a 2-under 69. Woo You made 6 birdies on the day and finished the tournament with a 1-under par total of 141. Caden Henderson (Heber, UT) was seven shots back of the lead after day one, but went on to shoot a 1-over 72 on day two to jump into second place in the tournament. Rounding out the top three and winning in a card-off was Rovanta Young (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) who shot 74-79 to finish 11-over par, 153

Girls College Prep Division:
Fresh off her move from Vancouver, BC, Muni He (Rancho Santa Fe, CA) racked up her first victory of the season. She had the lead through the entire tournament and she never looked back. She finished 72-73, 145 for a total of only 3-over par. Tying at a total of 7-over, 149 were Shiyang Fang (San Diego, CA) and Isabella Salant (Carlsbad, CA). Salant was able to win the card-off after shooting a final day 74, which beat out Fan by one stroke.

Girls 14 & Under Division:
The Girls 14 & Under Division was made up of only two competitors this week, Hae Ran Ryu (Korea) and Wave Whiston (San Diego, CA). Ran Ryu is back from last week where she finished second at Morongo. Whiston was making her first appearance of the season. Hae Ran Ryu was ahead by 2 shots after day one but took control on day two, and ended up besting Whiston by 11-shots in the end. Ran Ryu finished the tournament 11-over, shooting 78-75 for a 153 total. Whiston posted an 80-84 over two days for a total of 164, good for second place.

Boys 13-14 Division:
Team Korea dominated the Boys 13-14 division again. Myoung Kim (Korea) was 1-under par after a day one 70, but came back to the field a bit after his second day 75. In the end though, it still wasn’t close, with Kim winning the division by 7 shots. The second place finisher was Young Myung Jung (Korea) who was consistent over his two days, shooting a 75-77 for a total of 152, 10-over par. Finishing in third place was Zihao Jin (San Diego, CA) was right in the mix after a day one 76 but fell out of the pack on day after shooting an 80 to finish at 14-over par, 11 shots off the lead.

Boys 11-12 Division:
Avenging his loss in a play-off last weekend, Alexander Yang (Newport Coast, CA) broke through this week and took the victory. He was in second place after day one, but turned it around on day two and finished 77-76 for a total of 153, 11-over par. Riley Klingelberg (Murrieta, CA), back from a long hiatus finished in second place, firing off a 76 on the first day, followed up by an 80 on the second day for a total of 156, 14-over. Finishing out the top three was Yuki Moriyama (San Diego, CA) who finished 78-80 for a total of 16-over, 158.

Boys 10 & Under:
This tournament we introduced the new policy that all Boys 10 & Under will only be playing 18 holes. This week we had Ryan Voois (Ladera Ranch, CA) as the only Boys 10 & Under participant. He was able to shoot a 20-over 91 for his one-day event and take home the first place prize.
