BOYS 15-18 CHAMPION
Todd Baek
What a Great Event for the
15-18 Boys Division at the 3rd Annual Jr Masters Event! Todd Baek from San Diego captures the title in dramatic fashion with birdies on 3 of the last 4 holes to tie 1st round leader Michael Decker at 5 under par for 36-Holes. Todd made a really clutch birdie on the difficult 18th hole hooking an iron from the left rough over water to the tucked back left pin. The ball almost went in the hole for an eagle leaving him a tap in birdie. Decker from Pebble Beach had about 15 feet for birdie with an excellent approach shot, but the putt just slipped by. Since Todd is 18 years old, Michael Decker will take the exemption into next week's Callaway Junior World Championship at Torrey Pines South Course. Todd is on his way to San Diego State this fall. Coming in 3rd place in the division is Los Angeles Jonah Texeira who made a great run at the leaders. He opened his tournament with a sloppy 40 on the front 9 but fired a 5 birdie, bogey free back 9 31 to shoot 71 on day 1. Day 2 he played flawless shooting a 3 under par 69 to finish at 4 under par and missing the playoff by a stroke. Our 4th place finisher is Gavin Kyle Green from Malaysia who opened with a 69 in the first round. On Day 2 he got off to a tough start with double bogeys on 3 and 4 but bounced back to shoot a 75 and take 4th place. In 5th place is Miguel Tabuena from the Philippines who fired rounds of 74-71.
