Jay Hwang, a Torrey Pines High School Senior and UCLA Bound this fall wins the Inaugural FCG Western States Junior Players Cup by a single stroke in the Boys 15-18 Division. Jay earns a special invitation to the 2011 Rice Planters Amateur and secures a spot in the field at the 2011 FCG World Championship at PGA West. Casie Cathrea, 2-Time LPGA Tournament Participant and California State Women's Amateur Champion wins the Girls 15-18 Division by 2 shots.

The Future Champions Golf program hosted the Inaugural FCG Western States Junior Players Cup Feb. 19-21, 2011 at the Menifee Lakes Country Club in Menifee, CA. The weather made completion of the event very challenging but the Tournament Staff handled the challenge and got the event in as scheduled. We had 1 inch of rain Friday evening before Saturday's Opening Round which flooded the lakes course making it unplayable for the entire weekend. By losing one of our host courses we had to have all 147 competitors compete on the Palms Course for each round. All players competed their originally scheduled contests except for Boys 11-12 and Girls 9-10 that was shortened to 27 Holes. The weather held up great on Round 1 for the morning shotgun but turned evil around 4pm on Saturday giving the 12 and unders a real challenge. Saturday Evening saw another downpour with heavy winds and another inch of rain in the area. Surprisingly the course had less water on Sunday than Saturday and it turned out to be picture perfect weather. Scores were much lower in round 2 and we were able to get all 147 competitors to finish their rounds. When we woke Monday we had ice cold temperatures causing a 30-Minute Frost Delay. All players were on the course by 8am and the day ran very smooth.

Kyunghwan Oh from Korea wins the Boys 13-14 Division in a 2-Hole Playoff over Sean Crocker.
