First, I really must tell you how great it was to meet you, Antron and Tonya. You are all just fabulous people. Tonya is a total doll. You and Antron are a total crack up and you two remind me of an old Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte 48 hours movie, with your humor and mutual admiration. You guys totally and completely amaze me! You are so devoted. The children and parents of the kids you coach must love you to pieces!
We had GREAT time at your event. Seb learned so much and even though he struggled with his game on the back nine both days, he learned what it was like to try and recover from a double eagle, which, by the way, he said was more difficult than trying to recover from a 9 on a five. Good lesson. I would have never thought that, being that I am not a golfer. Ugh!!! I gave Seb your advice about playing from the reds just like the men's team at San Diego State and also the cool practice tip on mixing it up with the 6 hole reds, blues and whites.
We are grateful and know that every day in golf and especially every tournament day brings Seb closer to the heart of golf. He loves the game Chris, and because of people like you, he will continue to grow, develop and expand his repertoire. Over the past few years, Chris Smeal has done an outstanding job advancing Tyler’s golf game to a higher level. Not only has Chris spent time with Tyler during lessons on the range, chipping area and putting green; he has also spent many hours on some difficult courses in San Diego with Tyler helping him with his course management strategies. The guidance that Chris has shown Tyler has given him more confidence on the golf course. This coupled with Chris’ passion to see his students succeed has provided Tyler with a strong foundation that he can use both on and off the golf course. We started with Chris five years ago on a tip from a friend. With really no golf experience my wife and I enrolled our very shy six year old daughter in a group lesson. From day one it was obvious that Chris was not only a great instructor, but also very good with kids. He took a girl who would never speak to him or look him in the eye to a point where she now runs up to see him and is never afraid to ask him for advice. At age eight she decided to play in her first tournament on the FCG Mini Tour which she won by two strokes. Since then she is now a regular on the FCG tournament trail and SDJGA Tour. She has competed in two Callaway Junior World Golf Championships. Our youngest daughter has been with Chris for two years. At age seven she also is a regular on the FCG and SDJGA tours and twice has played in the Callaway Junior Worlds.
Both girls have total trust and confidence in Chris. With his guidance there seems to be no end in sight. Chris has always stressed to keep the game fun and both of our girls do exactly that. They enjoy the game and love to compete.

I just wanted to say thank you for the time you spent with Riley yesterday at the driving camp. We went out and played Carlton Oaks afterwards and he hit 12 of 14 fairways and added about ten yards to his average drive. The 2 he did miss, he missed left. He was able to take aim down the right all day without fear of missing right and even when he did push it or hit a fade it still ended up on in the fairway. He hasn’t had a tweak in his swing make such a difference before. As a result he shot a personal best 77 from the reds, going 1 under on the back nine. Thank you again for your help with Riley’s game.

Just to let you know that Patrick is now consistently scoring mid 70s from the tips (Carmel Mt.-77; CV-75; Baker Sth-74; Eastlake-75) and even lower compared from low 80 ave in the past 4 months, not to mention his strong performace in the Carlton Oaks Tour. putting together a wonderful platform for
the local Southern Californian golfers.
It so important that kids are able to compete
and yet the costs for competition have
skyrocketed over the last few years. Your
tour, championships and other special events
have been instrumental to many golfers
being able to experience the highest level
of competition or simply tasting what
competitive golf can offer. All of
your events have been run professionally and
given the kids a taste of how a first class
golf event is run. Many of my students and
my own daughter Annie have been inspired
to dream bigger, work harder, and have
enjoyed every experience that you have
afforded them. My love of the game runs deep
and I am passionate that kids should be
able to compete at any level without being
financially excluded. Many of the families
I have spoken to have appreciated having
the opportunity to play in your tournaments.
The quality of competition continues to excel

For the last several months Chris has been an instructor for my 11-year old son, James.
While under Chris' tutelage, James enjoyed considerable success in the San Diego Junior Golf Association
and qualified for the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships. During some periods when James faced
the considerable stress of tournament-level junior golf, Chris was able to ease his anxiety and redirect his
focus to the set-up, the target, and the swing. Indeed, Chris' guidance in establishing a proper and regular
pre-shot routine represented a significant step in the maturing of James' game. Beyond this, other areas
of improvement that have resulted directly from Chris' mentoring include changes to his grip, more consistent
bunker play, and better chipping/pitching around the green. (As an aside, during a lesson on pitching, Chris
introduced a fun time into the lesson teaching James to twirl the golf club like Tiger Woods after a well executed shot.
Of course, James thought this was "awesome" and spent most of the following week's practice time honing this essential skill!)
Chris takes agenuine interest in James' progress, beyond what I have come to expect in a typical coach-player relationship at this level.
I will recount one experience when James was on the driving range at Chris' facility. Chris came out to the range to visit with James,
which promptly turned into a review on driving the golf ball. After this brief and unscheduled "lesson,"
Chris invited James to play withhim at a local par 3 course that same afternoon, which was a great thrill to him.
Beyond his relationship with James, Chris enjoys an outstanding rapport with other kids as well. He speaks to
kids in a language that they understand, and he finds an appropriate balance ofinstruction, fun, and games to
keep the kids fully engaged. He oversees a robust junior golf program at the Stadium Golf Center, teaching
and interacting with players of all skill levels. His program includes regular group lessons, golf games, and
tournaments. In short, Chris is good for the game of golf. His junior golf program at the Stadium Golf Center
falls squarely in the category of community service and youth development, and his recognition for its growth is well deserved.
