2008 5-Day Golf School Itinerary

Three 18-Hole Rounds with Chris Smeal, PGA
29 Hours of Instruction and Time with Chris
4 Students Max Per School

Monday: 8:30am-5:30pm

  • Meet at Stadium Golf Center at 8am.
  • Receive Golf School Materials (Hat, Golf Shirt, Balls, Towel, etc.)
  • Introductions and Evaluation of Players
  • Goal Setting: Everyone receives Golf School Binder with Materials.
  • Video Lessons: CD for all Students of initial lesson clips.
  • Print Out of Fundamentals
  • Swing Improvement Session
    • Working on Improving Swing for Better Consistency, Distance, Control, Shot Shape, and Situational Ball Striking.
    • Drills for Improving your Individual Swing Needs.
    • Drills for Improving your Feel and Better Understanding of your ball flight.
    • Pre-Shot Routine Analysis and Development
  • Lunch at Rubios at Noon
  • 1:00 Tee Times:  18-Holes of Golf with Chris Smeal at either Carlton Oaks Golf Course or Admiral Baker.  Initial On-Course Evaluation Round.
  • Must be Picked Up at Golf Course at 5:30pm.
    Tuesday: 8:30am-1:00pm with Chris
    (1:00-5:30pm on own on Golf Course)
  • Meet at Stadium Golf Center
  • Discuss Monday’s Round of Golf with each player highlighting strengths and weaknesses.  Discuss the day’s plan for improving play for this week and what to work on when the golf school is over.
  • Discuss the Importance of Fitness, Strength Training, and Nutrition. One-Hour Fitness Demonstration and Analysis.
    • Exercises you can do for better flexibility and strength
    • Provide Packet or Demonstration by Fitness Trainer
  • Putting Workshop
    • Evaluation of Stroke
    • Videotape of Motion
    • Speed Analysis
    • What you see verses How you Aim
    • Drills for Improving Putting
  • Lunch at Pick Up Stix
  • 1:00pm: Drop off at Golf Course for 18-Holes.  This is a player’s only round.  Chris will not be there for this round.
  • Pick up at 5:30pm at the Golf Course Played.

Wednesday: 7:00am- Noon

  • Meet at Carlton Oaks Golf Course or Admiral Baker at 7am for warm-up
  • Tournament Preparation in Detail Discussion
    • What you should be doing prior to the Tournament?
    • Why you play a Practice Round?
    • Information to Gather
    • Purpose for practice round
    • Time to Arrive before your tee time.
    • What to do when you get there and in what order for optimal results.
    • Staying Calm and Preparing to play your best
  • 18-Holes of On-Course Play with Chris Smeal
    • Evaluation of all players on the Course.
    • Ball Striking Strengths and Weaknesses
    • Club Selection
    • Shot Making Skills
    • When to Play Safe and When to Be Aggressive
    • Understanding your strengths and weaknesses and using them to your advantage.
  • Lunch at site TBD
  • 1:00pm: Return to Stadium Golf Center for Your Own Use of the facility.
    • Range Balls will be available for your use.
    • Short Game Area open for you to practice.
    • You may schedule an afternoon Club Fitting with Coleman Mullin.
  • Pick Up at 4:00pm

Thursday: 8:30am-12:30pm

  • Meet at Stadium Golf Center
  • Drills and Game Development Workshop
    • This is the day to work hard really hard on the areas that Chris has determined are weak areas in your game.
    • Video Analysis
    • Swing Speed Training
    • Putting Development
    • Chipping and Pitching Development
    • Sand Development
  • Information Packet on College Recruiting Process and what you need to do and when you need to do it!
  • Drop off at Course TBD for 18-Holes of Play or Cut the day short and Go Sight See San Diego!

Friday: 7:30am-12:30pm

  • Meet at Golf Course TBD for 18-Hole Round with Chris.
  • Discuss the week’s events.
  • Re-Evaluate your skills and your goals on the course.
  • Certification of Completion will be awarded.
  • Pick Up is at 12:30pm Sharp.
