Whitney Hillier (2008 Girls 15-18 Champion)
I played a lot of Australian tournaments and got some nice placings. Went overseas and I won the Astor Trophy in England shooting an equal course record. Then in November I represented Australia in the Spirit International in Texas. Wow what an experience! It was a 4 person team and it was a competition to make the most birdies! Then I played the Argentina Amateur and came runner-up. I played great and was happy with my results but its always nice to have a win!

Note from 2008 SD JR MASTERS Girls 13-18 Division Champion Whitney Hillier from Australia- I was entered in the Callaway Junior World Championship and I wanted to qualify for the US Junior girls which were both conveniently both held at Carlton Oaks.
I found the San Diego Junior Masters was on in between both tournaments and it was the inaugural so I entered it straight away. I absolutely love San Diego so I really wanted to do well in this tournament! There was a great field playing especially for their first tournament.
I didn't put any pressure on myself and enjoyed both days. I had a great playing partners it was a lot of fun. When I found out that I won I was ecstatic because I just loved being there and winning it was a bonus! Also, the trophy was massive I wish I took that one home!
Carlton Oaks is a really nice course and well set up. Everyone was so nice and I felt at home. Coming from Australia is a long way but definitely worth it because I learnt so much and the experience was amazing. Thanks to Chris Smeal and his crew at Future Golf for organising the tournament.
Good luck to all the juniors playing the Masters this year! Stay positive and have fun! Whitney Hillier
