HISTORY OF THE SAN DIEGO JUNIOR MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP
"A True World Championship Event and Proving Training Ground for Junior World"
Founded in 2008 by PGA Teaching Professional Chris Smeal as the ultimate preparation event to compete in prior to Junior World. Creates an opportunity for local and international players to compete in an event
prior to the Junior World to get the kinks out and know where your game is and what needs work prior to the Main Event. Already we have had 25 players who competed in the FCG Junior Masters go on to win the Callaway
Junior World the following week. The event has quickly turned into one of the largest and most competitive events in junior golf.
In 2012 we had over 490 global competitors from over 25 different countries. With the growth
of the field we have added Sycuan Resort Oak Glen Course as host site for the Girls 13-14 and 15-18 Divisions.
In addition, the event is now a qualifier for the Callaway Junior World being played the week following our event. The winner in each age division will earn an exemption. Also the American Junior Golf Association
will recognize this event with PBE for the 13-14 and 15-18 Divisions.
Notable Past Champions Include:
- Tianlang Guan - Youngest Player to Play in the Masters
- Ariya Jutanugarn - LPGA Tour Player
- Moriya Jutanguarn - LPGA Tour Player
- Todd Baek - PGA and Web.com Tour Player
- Whitney Hillier - LET Player
Thank you for coming and supporting this event!
