How I Learned to Teach Golf?
There are many people to thank for helping me first learn how to play and then how to teach. So here it goes.....
  • My Dad Chris Smeal for teaching me to keep it simple and roll it to the hole at the right speed.
  • My Grandpas Jack Manning and BobTwitchell for taking me to play and letting me have fun.
  • Darren Johnson my first golf instructor. Teaching me to hit it solid.
  • John Darling who helped turn my game into a competitive high school player.
  • Hank George for letting me use his Video System to work on my swing.
  • Kieth Sbarbaro for letting me hang on his heels and try to be as good as him.
  • Joe Lucidi for always putting up a good fight and being a better best friend.
  • Todd Schimdt for helping me reach my potential at 18 and for caddying at Pebble Beach in the State Am.
  • Murray Van Gundy for teaching me how to practice the right way and to fade the ball every time.
  • All of the Staff at Stadium Golf Center for giving me a free lesson to learn how they teach.
Scott Mahlberg, Gary Griggs, Bill Barrett, Sheri Hayes, Ron Riess , and especially Justin Hicks .
  • Tom Wischmeyer for always answering little questions, quick tips, and our old monthly apprentice workshops.
  • Monty Leong for encouraging me to practice and play and be a part of the San Diego PGA Chapter.
  • Brad Hardan for teaching me about Club fitting its importance, and rubbing off his passion for what you like to do.
  • Skip Redford for stressing the importance of fitness for the golf swing. The body can't do what it needs to if you aren't in shape.
  • Tom Kroll, Kieth Sbarbaro of Tayor Made Golf for setting me up with clubs over the years.
  • Eddie Merrins and Charlie Sorrell for a great teaching summit when I was an apprentice.
  • John Cook, Amy Alcott, Jamie Mulligan, Hardy Brothers, Rudy Duran,
  • Dean Reinmuth and John Anselmo for a great teaching summit.
  • Dr. Jay Brunza for helping me to develop a solid pre-shot routine.
  • Derek Uyeda for a great putting lesson on reading greens and other many helpful tips.
  • Butch Harmon for allowing me to watch him teach one of his golf schools.
  • Carl Welty for giving me a 6 Hour lesson for only 3 hours of pay. What an experience.
