Beau Hossler,

Boys 15-18 CHAMPION
The Boys Championship Division was a very strong field with 77 Boys Competing for the 2010 Title at Steele Canyon Golf Club on December 28-29, 2009. Coming on top was Beau Hossler from Rancho Santa Margarita with 2 solid rounds of 69-71: 140 to best his high school teamate Andrew Levitt by just one stroke. Andrew had an interesting first round with 18 pars. Rounding out the top 3 was David Lowe from Paradise Valley, CA who finished at +1: 143. Beau Hossler has earned an Exemption to the prestigious Callaway Junior World Championship played annually in July.

Tyler Moore,
Esondido, CA
BOYS 13-14 CHAMPION
The Boys 13-14 Division was packed with solid talent and a field of 35 players at Steele Canyon Golf Club. These boys did a great job playing from a stretched 6600 yard course with super slick greens and a plethora of trouble off the tee and around the greens. Coming out on top was super hot Tyler Moore from Escondido who had rounds of 75-70 to beat 2nd place finisher Nahum Mendoza by a close 3 strokes. Nahum tied Northride standout Jonah Texeira at 148. Tyler Moore was already exempt to the 2010 Callaway Junior World after finishing 2nd in the 11-12 Division so T2nd players Nahum Mendoza and Jonah Texeira went to a sudden death playoff to see who would take the spot. Nahum came out on top during this 1-hole playoff to earn the spot in the 2010 Callaway Jr World.

GIRLS 15-18 CHAMPION

 

Casie Cathrea has had an exceptional 2009 season and has continued her winning ways in 2010 winning the 3rd Annual SD JR AMATEUR at Sycuan Resort by an impressive 9 shots. Casie had it 5 under par through 12 holes in her first round of play but dropped 5 shots at the end to finish at 72. Her 2nd round 76 was best of day 2 and she takes home the title. No stranger to winning she won the 2009 California Women's Amateur Championship and played in the LPGA CVS Championship. Coming in 2nd place is Kaitlin Park from Tuscan Ranch, CA with rounds of 78-79. Coming in 3rd place is Spenser Krut from Del Mar at 158.

Lydia Choi
Beverly Hills, CA
GIRLS 13-14 CHAMPION

 

Lydia Choi from Beverly Hills wins the action packed 13-14 Girls Division by 7 strokes with rounds of 76-72 on two tough layouts at Sycuan Resort. She was tied for the lead after her opening round 76 but fired an impressive 72 on day 2 to take the title and earn her way into the 2010 Callaway Junior World. Coming in 2nd place is local San Diegan Jennifer Peng who was the 2010 FCG World Champion. Jennifer had rounds of 78-77 to take solo 2nd. Coming in 3rd place was Shannon Oh from Oceanside, CA.

Issei Tanabe
Huntington Beach, CA
BOYS 11-12 CHAMPION
Issei Tanabe a powerhouse player who has built an impressive resume in his young career and has won many of the FCG Biggest events. Issei came out on top of a very strong field of 44 players competing at Sycuan Resort. Issei had rounds of 74-72 to take the title. He is such a fun young man to watch as his passion for the game and competition is admirable. Coming in 2nd place is Roy Cootes from Rolling Hills, CA with rounds of 73-75. Rounding out the top 3 is Sunny Yan from Salina, CA who fired rounds of 75-75 and is excited to learn he wins the exemption into the 2010 Callaway Junior World Championship. With Issei already exempt and Roy turning 13 in March, Sunny takes the exemption.

GIRLS 11-12 CHAMPION
Our Girls 11-12 Champion is so impressive to watch. She has it all and has faired very well at the San Diego Junior Amateur Championship. Last year she won the division with rounds of 80-70. This year she wins with 2 solid rounds of 70-71 and a 3 under total. Angel takes the exemption for the 2010 Junior World Championship. Coming in 2nd place is former Junior World Champion, SD Jr Masters Champion Lilia Vu from Fountain Valley, CA. Lilia is also a powerhouse player and shot rounds of 75-74. Coming in 3rd place is Alexia Gariepy from Murrieta who conitinues to improve in every event we see her at. Alexia had rounds of 83 and an impressive final round 72.

Yorba Linda, CA
BOYS 9-10 CHAMPION
What an exciting finish to this division. Coming on top is Ricky Castillo from Yorba Linda, CA who seems to always hang out around the top of the leaderboard. Ricky won earlier this week at the US Kids event and then continued his hot streak with rounds of 61-59. Ricky is already exempt into the 2010 Callaway Junior World so when the 2nd place scores were posted we had a 5-way tie for 2nd. Andy Zhou, Devon Bling, Charlie Reiter, Kyle Maspat, and Perry Xin headed to the first tee of Pine Glen for a playoff to earn the 1 exemption. After 6 holes of play Devon Bling won the playoff and earned his spot in the Junior World Field. Congratulations to all players for an exciting finish!

GIRLS 9-10 CHAMPION
All the way from Mexico City, Mexico is the 2010 SD Jr Amateur Champion for Girls 9-10. Andrea a very hard working player takes the title with rounds of 66-62 and a 128 total. Coming in 2nd place is Lillian Torres from Fresno, CA. Lillian scored rounds of 64-70 to finished ahead of 3rd place Bella Setio from San Marino, CA. Bella had rounds of 69-66 to continue her streak of top finishes in FCG Events.

Dylan Fritz
Las Vegas, Nevada
BOYS 8 and UNDER CHAMPION
In the 8 and Under Boys Division it was a 4 stroke victory for Las Vegas star Dylan Fritz. Dylan fired rounds of 60-66 on the Pine Glen Layout to take honors and earn his 2010 Callaway Junior World Exemption. Coming in 2nd place is San Diego's Andrew Jung with rounds of 63-67. Our 3rd place finisher is left handed Riley Klingelberg from Murrieta, CA who fired 70 and a final round 63. Way to go all Boys 8 and Unders!

GIRLS 8 and UNDER CHAMPION
In the 8 and Under Girls Division Karah Sanford, an always strong competing FCG Tournament Player came out on top with rounds of 66-65 to finish ahead of 2nd place local Kailie Vongsaga. Kailie had rounds of 68-69 on the par 58 layout. Coming in 3rd place from Arizona is Toni St. John who shot 69-76!
